Dead Trigger 2 is a first person shooter for mobile devices. It's a linear action game where you have to kill zombies. Like always, the controls make-or-break a mobile FPS game and that's no different here.
Kill zombiesThe core gameplay of Dead Trigger 2 is a first-person shooter. Using either simplified touch controls for casual players or an "enhanced virtual joystick" for hardcore players, the gameplay plays the same. The game is broken into different objectives but you'll usually find yourself simply trying to survive while navigating through an area.
Dead Trigger 2 introduces its core gameplay over the first few levels. You get a hideout with different non-playable characters that help you unlock and upgrade weapons and gadgets.
Instead of simply staying in one city, the game features ten regions and over thirty unique environments. If you want weapon variety, there are thirty-seven to buy.
There is also a Purgatory Arena where you can fight with other players. One of the strengths in Dead Trigger 2 is the variety of zombies you get to fight.
Since Dead Trigger 2 is a free to play game, there's pressure to spend real money on things like a super high level weapon that you need to beat a level. If you don't want to spend any money, expect to grind a lot to earn enough funds to upgrade and purchase stronger weapons.
Touch controls can't replace a controllerEven though Dead Trigger 2 is polished for mobile devices, its touch controls still can't match a controller or keyboard and mouse.
The biggest problem with the game is that the push to pay for premium items can border on insanity. There are a lot of different weapons and items to use, but it's going to be hard decision between using a weapon bought in-game or paying for a virtual weapon with real money.
In short bursts, Dead Trigger 2 is a lot of fun, but the in-app purchases really make the experience annoying.
